FUNDRAISING

What can you expect from a shared fundraiser? In a word - expertise. Company management brings over 25 years of nonprofit management and fundraising experience to the table. We have done it all -from direct mail to special events, to foundation solicitations, to product sales, to major gifts, to volunteer recruitment and management. We keep up to date on advances in on-line technology and fundraising practices. We are members of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and always maintain the highest standards of ethics and confidentiality.

Using the shared fundraising service, each organization has a fundraising specialist visiting them regularly– because fundraising is a continuous process. We typically begin with an overall assessment of your fundraising needs, and then begin to focus on areas of improvement. During this process, you tell us what you feel are your most pressing needs, and we tell you what we can do to help. In other words, we find the solution to your fundraising problems together.

Given the nature of the work, there is no “typical” day in the life of the shared professional. The fundraising specialist, through careful training, develops a routine which usually allows him to visit 1 or 2 organizations each day. At one, he may be training the resource development committee on the fundamentals of fundraising; on the next, he may be meeting with the Development Director to discuss requirements of an upcoming grant proposal, and on his next, he may be conducting specialized research on a potential major donor.

Throughout the day, he places and receives a wide variety of calls related to future appointments, providing suggestions on good donor management practices, advice on software usage, or working with a fulfillment house on an upcoming solicitation. Evenings are generally consumed with routine business needs and planning. Each day is indeed hectic, but is also rewarding since it is task driven, and accomplishments, or at least progress, can be seen on most every front almost every day.

Fundraising specialists associated with Raiser Sharp Consulting often have expectations for themselves that are far above the expectations of any organization with which they are associated. Somehow, these differing expectations, and differing needs, all work together to form a solution that is very efficient and highly effective.
